Mama Needs A New Pair Of Shoes
![]() |

Whenever I cruise the stores for fall and, especially, winter clothes and shoes, I usually end up finding the raddest, yet inappropriate, gear for this season, like the rad heels by Whyred that you see up there, for example. Although, I'm guessing, with the right frame of mind (Read: the right pair of socks!) they can be worn then, too.
As a result of my dilemma, I've been spending quite some time on The Outnet for inspiration, and I'm feeling a lot of what I see, which has added to, rather than acted as, a solution to my problem.
How I wish I owned a pair of ruby slippers, a modified version of Dorothy's in the movie "The Wizard of Oz". That way, instead of being transported back to Kansas whenever I klicked my heels three times, the shoes would transform into the design of my desire.
This leads me to the question: Do any of you guys know where I could possibly find such a set of magical footwear? Yes? Then point me in the direction of that shop, and. I. am. out. of. here!

R To The H

Photographed By Ellinor ForjeHey you, how are things, and how was your weekend? Mine was pretty good. I’m sitting here on this bright Sunday, trying to stay awake long enough to finish this before the next horizon quietly starts to arrive.
I spoke too soon. I’ve started misspelling English words with å, ø, and scattering in Greek symbols for no discernible reason. Time to sleep. I’ll catch you later.
I’m back.
U.S. Import presents R/H.
R/H is a Finnish label created by the design duo Hanna Riiheläinen and Emilia Hernesniemi, who presented their debut runway show in Copenhagen on August 5 during fashion week.
The collection distills Nordic minimalism into something more charged than restrained, a quiet tension running through its surfaces and silhouettes. R/H builds a distinct visual language through garments and accessories: mountain earrings that echo the sharp geometry of snake teeth, a motif that reappears in the print on Riiheläinen’s top. Elsewhere, necklaces and camera bags extend the same sense of controlled precision.
I could go on, but I’ll leave it there and let the work speak for itself.
It’s been a while since I’ve been this excited about discovering a new brand. I also had the pleasure of meeting both designers’ families, who were as warm and memorable as the collection itself.

Cruel Summer
Photographed By Ellinor ForjeA couple of days ago, on August 3 to be more precise, I woke up by the rays of the sun gently tickling my nose. It was the first day of Copenhagen Fashion Week. I had my outfit picked out and my schedule all mapped out. The day was going to be perfect. Then, as I tried to move out of bed, I was hit by the most awkward sensation running through my system. You know that feeling right before you catch the flu? I remember thinking, "Oh no, I'm falling sick!" All I needed at that point was for someone to tell me that the universe was about to cave in due to an hitherto unknown planet hiding behind the sun, and be done with it.
It really wasn't anything serious though. Just a slight bug which rest combined with green tea, aspirin and a lot of water, cleared up within two days. I became cured. But, my heart was still bleeding from some of the events that I'd missed.

Hugo Boss
Photographed By Ellinor ForjeI found myself deliberating over what to call this post. Titles like "Saturday Night Fever," "Fame," and Irene Cara, all came to mind. This pose could easily pass for one of John Travolta’s iconic moments in the first mentioned movie, no? In the end, though, I settled on Hugo by Hugo Boss, as the outfit of the hour hails from their Spring/Summer 2012 collection.
Yesterday, I caught up with the brand’s PR team at Hotel Nimb, where they had set up camp a few hours after their show, an event I, regrettably, did not attend. In fact, this season I’ve missed nearly every engagement I had planned for Copenhagen Fashion Week. Something in the stars seems decidedly off, but more on that later.
Back to the look, I’m completely taken with it.
Admittedly, I have a soft spot for stripes in any form, but it’s more than that. There’s an undeniable disco, inflected charm in the oversized tee, the mini skirt, and that striking palette of hot pink, white, and black, effortless, playful, and just the right amount of bold.

Say Do You Remember?
"How much does it weigh, and how many pages?" is one of the questions asked by a Condé Nast executive, during a boardroom meeting for their September issue of Vogue. Remember the 2007 one, with Sienna Miller on the front cover?
I discovered the infamous edition under my bed two days ago. I don't remember what it was I was originally looking for, but there it was in all its 1000-pages splendour. I'd forgotten how big it was, and the motive behind its magnitude. They were looking to break the record. They broke it and then some. Yes, size does count. Don't let anybody fool you into thinking otherwise.
Having said that, my Livingstonian finding prompted me to re-watch "The September Issue" (2009). I think I appreciated the documentary more this time around, than on my first viewing of it. Then, I was more interested in the business and creative side of the publishing industry. This time, I paid more attention to the mindset, and interactions of the characters.
There are several storylines in this film that resonate with me. For example, Anna Wintour asking photographer Mario Testino, during one of their creative sessions, whether he'd seen Roger Federer play the other day, is completely irrelevant to their task, yet so perfect for the moment.
In addition, Grace Coddington reiteration of what she'd once been told by one of her mentors, that is; "always keep your eyes open, because whatever you see out of the window can inspire you", sums up her modus operandi.
And last but not least, André Leon Talley playing tennis! You need to watch the movie just to behold this comic relief. It's a riot. Although, Talley looks cute in his Louis Vuitton gear and all, and I respect him for the genius that he is: This should be the first and the last time, the word "tennis", and the names "Federer" and "Talley" are mentioned in the same film, let alone in the same sentence, ever again. R.J. Cutler, you listening?
Anyway, back to the Vogue issue. While flicking through the pages of the hard copy, I stumbled on an ad by Nordstrom that I'd forgotten about, and thought I'd share with you. I'm in love with these illustrations. They almost beat the cover.
