Fashion remains dead. And we have killed it.
Could it be?
Today, I came across an interesting blog with the captivating title, Fashion Doesn't Exist. It made me plunge right into a fashion existentialistic state of shock. Did it never exist? Or did it, and we killed it? If no, then what? If yes, then how can we comfort ourselves, the fashion murderes that we are?

OMG I'm so happy to see this :) REally thank youa nd, in teh following day I'll speak about your blog on mine :) However the post express in the best way (in fact for me to speak in english is a huge problem...) my point of view on fashion really thanks :)
ReplyDeleteIf you desire we can chat about fashion: this is my email ( fashiondoesntexist@live.com) bye :)
Indeed it is an interesting blog title, and I myself was confused as to what exactly it meant, considering the blog is all about fashion.
ReplyDeleteI don't think we've killed it. Fashion has always been with us, and it will always be with us. It's a part of life, and if you destroy fashion, you destroy a way of life. You cannot kill fashion.

Thank you for your comment in my blog!
ReplyDeleteFashion is more about personal style than anything. If you are those people who don't make fashion personal, than indeed, fashion is dead.
ReplyDeleteNice blog too!!
Fashion is very complecated but also it's simple on some case. i think it's not just clothes and wearing.
ReplyDeleteand the picture is very great!
very nice blog!!!
nice photo!
ReplyDeletethank you so much for the lovely comment you left on my blog!!!

I'm convinced fashion exist. It's all around us, it's not only clothes, it's the way we are. Sounds a bit poetic, but it's just my opinion. ^^
ReplyDeleteBy the way ,thanks for commenting on my blog. :) The dessert are "Speculatius", typical German cookies that appear in the supermarkets during fall and winter. :)
All I know is: cool title. Gonna check the blog out :))
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting my blog earlier dear.

Thanx for visiting my blog and commenting. I love that you explore, question, and reveal. I'm adding you to my blog list!
ReplyDeleteAs for fashion being dead I don't believe we have killed it. However more than ever it seems almost every celebrity tries to develop a fashion line. To me fashion is more than design. Its all about the designers intention, if the designer uses fashion as their creative muse than it is art.
But lately fashion has just been used as another outlet to become famous with no consideration of craftsmanship, fit, lifestyle, or cultural imprint. This mere reality has killed fashion. But fashion will never truly die.
Glad you loved my blog, dear!
ReplyDeleteAnd yes.. I need some shoes shopping too. As soon as possible.

Hi Ellinor!
ReplyDeleteThank you for commenting on my blog! About this subject, I think it all has to do with what we consider fashion to be. I look at fashion as being a part of who we are, not what we wear every season.
Kisses!

Waouw!! When i see your blogs i feel like a little new born child on the blogosphere!! :) Thank you very much for your comment! Your blogs are really great too!

Thank you for your comment! I had to check out your blog... and then BAM! your last post... what a subject! I think the concept of Fashion is actually abstract, and then there are thousands of interpretations. I don't think it's dead, I think it evolves and transforms every time someone gets dressed in the morning. Great blog! xo
ReplyDeletelove the picture :)
ReplyDeleteWOW - this makes me kind of speechless.....
ReplyDeleteReally really nice statement and question....
I agree with most of the comments... Fashion already exist but i know what u mean... sometimes fashion seems to be dead....
But as u can read on the banner of my blog " fashion means more than just an outfit, it's the whole outlook on life"
thx for your sweet comment!! hope to have u as a reader day by day!!!

Indeed fashion is dead unless you make it your own. And I totally stole that from a previous comment but it makes complete sense. :)
ReplyDeleteYour blog on the other hand inspires me, makes me hungry for sweets, art and knowledge. Love it.
interesting post ! I think as long as the media is around, so will fashion, the 2 are synonymous..! ;)
ReplyDeletei think it's alive and kicking :)
ReplyDeleteI follow you. Ok? :)
ReplyDeletefantastic blog!
And thank you very much! ;)
I think fashion is more alive than ever and is constantly thriving off of us.
ReplyDelete:)
what an interesting post! very thought provoking....
ReplyDeletelove your blog; thanks for the comment on mine ;)
Who killed fashion?!?! I know I didn't!!!! Fashion is totally subjective and I think that's the beauty of it. What's fashion to one is certainly not applicable for all.
ReplyDeleteCall Me Ishmael
you know thiz iz a powerful topic. In my opinion people speak of fashion without discusing what style iz. Fashion iz thoze new men'z Louboutin'z that are fresh off the runway. Style iz how that man iz able to incorperate the shoe into hiz wardrobe. The problem iz we've allowed fashion labelz to speak for uz,instead of letting onez personal style speak for itself. To answer the question iz fashion dead!!!??? yez and no!!!! Brandz and labelz keep shopperz acting like mindless zombiez instead of people with their own mindz
ReplyDeleteThere's always a cycle.
ReplyDeleteIF we DID kill it, i'm sure we'll explore and it'll be there again.
Designers especially now have such broad and interesting ideas that captivates more individuals which is very impressive.

I don't think fashion is dead.
ReplyDeleteIt's just taking a hiatus.
Hey thanks for the visiting my blog and the very nice comment you left.
I cannot comment as to the existence of fashion, because it will either be or not be without me. I am merely a pawn and a spectator, once in a while deceiving myself into believing that I am a participant.
ReplyDeleteYour illustrations a few posts ago are completely lovely. xo d
How post idealist! I disagree though, fashion will always exist - but our definition of fashion is kaleidoscopic. Style however is a different matter!
ReplyDeleteThank you for your lovely comment!

interesting thought.. when i compare looks from the 60s to the grunge revival now, sometimes i really wonder.
ReplyDeleteThe lure of fashion is it's ever-changing nature. If it always existed in the same form it wouldn't be nearly as fun. So it's natural everyone has varying opinions of it's existence. Nice work creating some fashion dialogue! x
ReplyDeleteActually the balcony and landscape is finnish not swedish ;)
ReplyDeletethanks for visiting my blog anyway!

Hmmm, interesting. I think it all depends on your definition of fashion.
ReplyDeleteHi Ellinor - thanks for dropping by to say hello! I really like your blog - it's very eclectic and has kept me reading for quite a while! :) I think as long as there are humans on Earth, there will be fashion of some sort. Have a fun weekend! Siobhan

ReplyDeleteI loved this post. For me fashion will never be dead as people always have and always will adorn themselves. And creating our "outside" identity is fashion!

I think fashion exists only in the moment where it is questioned. Some go with the grain, some go against it. The individual who presents something the next person does not quite understand- thatis fashion.Because it is becoming something more than "just clothes".
ReplyDeleteFashion dies when the individual expresses the masses, in which most do.I think Fashion dies when the same look is expressed in the same fashion , over and over , without any new life. Everything in fashion is a cycle, but it is all about the expression, and when it again becomes a question, fashion is reborn. Just my opinion :) great post! fashion IS a philosophy, no?
Thanks for the visit to my blog!
ReplyDeleteJust because I'm all about the fashion of mourning, I think fashion IS death - as soon as any style is born, it's already dying. That's the beauty of it.
So interesting... Like the pic!!

Style is an extension of your personality, and image of your character.
ReplyDeleteBut as il Grande Giorgio said: you've got to have an Interior Elegance.

I remember I heard people say fashion is nothing new. The designers just change some parts of some certain designs and declare that it's a whole new style but it is NOT. regarding the saying, i kind of agree. i think thats why we have vintage clothes nowadays, lol.
