The other day, after recieving an invitation to the semi-annual Chanel Joaillerie show, at 18 Place Vendôme in Paris, I was reminded of the cruel reality of life. Due to schedule conflicts and variant woes, I wasn't going to be anywhere near la capital de la France during its haute couture fashion week this season. Then immediately after that epiphany, I remembered a less harsher notion, the fact that I'm yet to watch the movie "Coco Chanel and Ivan Stravinsky".* So I did what any other normal person in my position would have done. Watched the film? Heck no! I drenched my sorrows in a new lacquer. Coco Chanel all the way baby.
*I've already seen "Coco Before Chanel" (2009), staring Audrey Tatou and Benoît Poelvoorde among others. It's a well written drama about a grandiose life. And a testiment to the Chanel legacy. I especially enjoyed when the classic monochromatic suit made its appearance somwhere near the end. But enough said, I don't want to ruin it for you.
