WHERE WERE YOU BORN AND RAISED AND WHAT DID YOU WANT TO BE GROWING UP?
I was born and raised in Kuwait. Growing up I really had no idea what I wanted to be. Even in college it wasn't until my third year that I chose to study nutrition. I think it's very important not to put pressure on kids growing up and allow them to explore different activities to really find what they are passionate about.

WHAT ARE THE THREE BEST THINGS ABOUT THE CITY WHERE YOU LIVE?
I live in Los Angeles. The three best things are the weather, my favorite grocery store called Erewhon, and the beautiful hiking trails.

WHY DIETITIAN?
I decided to become a dietitian, because I love health and wellness, I love helping people and making them feel better.

WHEN DID YOU START THE FARAH EFFECT?
I started The Farah Effect earlier this year. I decided it was time to have an online platform that everyone had access to- that had useful nutrition knowledge including recipes. There is a lot misinformation regarding nutrition online and I wanted to create a space that came from a credible source. But at the same time I wanted the imagery to be beautiful.

HOW DID YOU ACQUIRE THE EXTENSIVE KNOWLEDGE?
Through school and work. I have a Bachelor of Science in nutritional science, master of arts in clinical psychology, master of science in nutrition and a registered dietitian license.

FAVOURITE INGREDIENTS TO WORK WITH?
Anything coconut! Coconut milk, coconut butter, coconut water, coconut flour, coconut oil.

DETOX DIETS, YAY OR NAY?
Only for short periods and not to be used as a way to control weight. I don't recommend extreme dieting, I believe moderation is the key to health in all areas of life not just food.

PROTEINS VERSUS CARBOHYDRATES?
Both - the body needs both to function. Carbohydrates from unrefined sources like fruits and vegetables.

WHAT BEAUTY ESSENTIALS CAN EASILY BE WHIPPED UP IN ONE’S KITCHEN?
Face masks. I use this manuka honey one all the time.

HOW DO YOU GET LIT OUTSIDE OF WORK?
I love concerts. The last one I saw was Adele. Her voice is out of this world.

WHAT DID YOU HAVE FOR DINNER LAST NIGHT?
Veggie pizza, with a side of vegetables and green juice. I eat a lot of vegetables!
