WHERE ARE YOU RIGHT NOW AND HAVE YOU ALWAYS LIVED THERE?
I am in Los Angeles, and have lived here over 20 years.

WHERE WERE YOU BORN AND BROUGHT UP?
I was born and raised in New York City.

WHAT'S THE BEST THING ABOUT YOUR PRESENT CITY OR HOMETOWN?
The weather.

WHAT ARE SOME OF YOUR FONDEST CHILDHOOD MEMORIES?
Going to see a musical on Broadway once a month, going to art school and visiting the Museum of Modern Art and the Met.

WHY COSTUME DESIGNER?
I love storytelling through character design.

WHAT'S YOUR EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND?
I went to the High School of Music and Art, then the School of Visual Arts and Parsons School of Design. I was thrown out of both Parsons and SVA after a year.

HOW DID YOU GET STARTED IN THE INDUSTRY?
I went to visit my husband on a film set in New Orleans, they didn’t have a costume designer and was asked if I would be the costume designer (I was a fashion designer at the time), and jumped right into the deep water.

HOW IS WORKING ON THE SET FOR A FILM DIFFERENT THAN WORKING ON A TELEVISION SERIES?
I do not work on a set. Wardrobe people work on the sets and there isn’t a difference. The only difference is the type of show.

IS CREATING COSTUMES FOR PERIOD PIECES, OR FANTASY FILMS, MORE CHALLENGING THAN WORKING ON CONTEMPORARY PROJECTS?
All projects have there own challenges, no matter the genre.

WHAT LIBERTIES ARE YOU TAKING IN "BRIDGERTON" TO HELP BRING THE STORY AND CHARACTERS TO LIFE?
We created a fictional world of Regency London that was an aspirational vision, without a bonnet insight. We created a palette that was fresh, vibrant and bold, we created fabrics that would allow the silhouette to have a fluidity and add to a romantic fantasy. All and all we wanted our world to invite the audience to an alluring, sexy and FUN experience.

WHAT IS YOUR PROCESS FROM CONCEPT TO CREATION?
The concept starts with the script. Understanding the text, and what the director is after. I then share my vision with the director, producers, cinematographer and production designer. Once we are all basically on the same page, I proceed to do a deep dive into research, that could include reading about the subject matter and all forms of imagery, soup to nuts. Once I have gathered all my research, I create what my vision of the project will be,via a look book, It will hold all the information we will need to create our world and characters. I always work from the overall vision into the character, not the reverse. Then the breakdown of  the characters happen, then design. I will work with an illustrator, meet with makers, fabric buyers and my team. Meet the with actors, evaluate what needs to be amended, if anything, and determine how all will be done.  I delegate responsibilities to my team. Once all designs are approved, we fabricate a toile for our first fitting. Many things can happen from that point forward , depending on how that fitting goes. If perfect, we work to complete.

WHO OR WHAT HAS HAD THE BIGGEST INFLUENCE ON YOU?
I took drawing and painting class with a visionary artist named Jack Potter. He taught me how to see.

IS MICHAEL DOUGLAS YOUR MUSE?
We have done great work together, however he is by no means my muse.

HOW WOULD YOU DEFINE YOUR PERSONAL AESTHETIC?
My motto is TO WALK IN BEAUTY. That applies to everything - fashion, design andbeautiful locations.

WHAT BEAUTY ROUTINE DO YOU SWEAR BY?
A combination of MZ Skin and Biologue Refleche. I love all their products . But truthfully, I'm a lotions and potions girl. I am always trying something new.

WHAT DO YOU GET UP TO WHEN YOU'RE NOT WORKING?
I am in the midst of writing a story I've wanted to tell for years.

HOW DO YOU UNWIND?
At the beach and the ocean, it calms my soul.
