When Johnny Is The Nice One

I've been flicking through photos of the recent fashion shows while counting how many black pieces I wouldn't see on the runway this season. The black is there and there's a lot of it. We can't do without the colour in the collections or in our wardrobes for that matter. Why is that?

Angelina Jolie used to wear a lot of black back in the day. She still does. Differently though. Less tank tops and jeans and more sophisticated stuff. She's edgy. Nothing has really changed. Johnny Cash once said*,“I wore black because I liked it. I still do, and wearing it still means something to me. It's still my symbol of rebellion - against a stagnant status quo". Maybe that's true for Jolie, too. But is that really why we wear it? I mean, if you throw a concert at San Quentin aren't you a rebel with or without a black attire on (I'm talking about Cash)? That said, has the puzzle been solved? Why do you wear black?

*Cash said a lot of things - watch "Walk the Line" (2005).

  1. I wear black because it's easy. No need to worry about matching and accessorising too much.

  2. I agree with the first comment, it's very simple and easy and goes with most things. I used to wear a lot of black, but now I'm getting more into colour these days.

    Lovely photo above too.

  8. I have to say that I'm not a big fan of black (in principle because it does not realy suit my skin tone...) and I tend to prefer 'passpartout' colours like navy of grey. However, I do see the chic allure of black and I have actually been discovering it only recently! Caterina

  9. I'm usually more of a colour girl! But when I wear black, its typically with edgier outfits, or when it's just too gloomy outside for me to wear any colour!

  13. I like black but struggle to pull it off because I have quite pale skin, there's something about black that's peaceful:
'You don't bother me, I wont bother you'
    Its certainly understated :)

  15. I love it, it's my comfort color, I don't feel like myself if I'm not wearing black something. I just love dark colors, so that could be reason too. They look so much more sophisticated then wearing brights all the time.
