"I'm The Captain Now"

Photographed By Ellinor Forje

This is probably the first time in more than a decade that I've actually seen 80 percent of the Oscar nominated movies before the prize giving ceremony. And guess what? I was all geared up to stay up and watch it. Then, I feel asleep right before the red carpet coverage. Imagine?

Luckily, I woke up just in time for the "live" moment Lupita Nyong'o recieved her award along with everything that followed. I think she looked endearing in her custom made dress by Prada. I later watched Ellen Degeneres' opening monologue courtesy of the WorldWideWeb.

That said, can we talk about The Pink Team at the Dolby Theater? Camila Alves, Jada Pinkett Smith and Penelope Cruz all wore beautiful dress in variations of pink. Although they're all winners in my book, if I have  to chose one, it would be Matthew McConaughey's wife's number; which reminds me that I'm yet to see "Dallas Buyers Club".

Look, I tried watching it the other day. After two minutes I was about to cry up a river. I generally have as a policy not to watch two tear-drenching or gut-punching movies in a row. Matthew lost so much weight for the role had you thrown a white sheet on him to make an imprint, he'd be a dead ringer for the Shroud of Turin. Blasphemy! I know. But, I'm only being descriptive, alright? "Alright, alright, alright".
